Ancestral Jungle

A dense forest, with trees as tall as towers, vines, bogs and the ruins of an ancient people. Atop the ziggurat, the Feathered Serpent waits. The trail starts at the Ash Outpost and requires level 60 and Ignar defeated.

Land boss: Ixtal, the Feathered Serpent

Places

Explorers' Camp

• levels 61–63

Where the kingdom's expedition stopped: the log gate, the tents and the campfire at the edge of the forest. Dart frogs on the riverbank and howler monkeys in the banana grove.

Vine Woods

• levels 62–66

The dense forest: trees the size of towers, vines that hang down to the ground, swamps and the giant anthill in the southeast, where the Ant Queen tends the colony.

Ruins of Ixtal

• levels 63–70

The city of the ancient people, swallowed by the forest: squares of glyphs, the sacred lake and the causeway of kings up to the Ziggurat stairway. The Great Shaman prays at the eastern altar; in the northeast, Balam's den. In the southwest, the river flows down to the sea.

Ziggurat of Ixtal

• levels 66–70
• interior

Two floors of carved stone corridors, jade channels and jaguar warriors, feathered serpents and jade golems, up to the Ziggurat Summit: the altar open to the sky, where Ixtal, the Feathered Serpent, coils around the calendar disc. A false wall hides the treasure of the ancient people.
